Call for case studies on social enterprise

European Research Institute on Cooperative and Social Enterprises (EURICSE) and EMES are collaborating to create an open access database of in-depth social enterprise case studies. In this regard, EURICSE and EMES have called for case studies with the aim to create database of social enterprise case studies. Ten case studies will be selected by a scientific committee for an award of 1,000 Euro. The deadline for submission is June, 13, 2010.

Focus for this year is on promoting work integration of disadvantaged people, with special regard to the goals pursued by the social enterprises (e.g. replace jobs; provide on-the-job training with the aim of facilitating work integration in the open labour market; promote socialization through a productive activity). Case studies are expected to be identified on the basis of their innovative dimension, which can be approached from various perspectives:

  • Technical (harnessing new technologies, marketing strategies, environmental-ecological practices);
  • Product/services development;
  • Internal organizational/operational practices (possible involvement of one or more categories of stakeholders);
  • External networks/clusters;
  • Institutional-legal innovation (influence of choosing a particular/new legal or institutional form); and
  • Business model

Selected case studies will be added to the Euricse-EMES online open access database on in-depth social enterprise case studies.
